"AutoMicroGraphy"
Recently I have been examining the creation of mysterious landscapes and alien worlds beneath the microscope's lens using my own hair, blood, skin, etc. Conceptually it is a multilayered experiment encompassing introspection, shifting perspectives, exploring the unique places we all hide within us and finding the foreign amidst the familiar. This new body of work represents an outgrowth of previous projects concerned with ambiguity and unveiling dramatic, emotional spaces. The process of creation involves manipulating a 3 dimensional structure measured on a scale of micrometers into an esthetic form and from my God's-eye view through the microscope, selecting the perspective, lighting and other parameters which ultimately bring the final image to life.
